Literacy Cafe: Writing and Reading

The instructional plan for La Salle Avenue Spanish Dual Language Elementary includes a targeted focus on research-based pedagogies and practices that have proven to be effective in supporting the needs of African American and Latino students. Embracing an instructional plan that is culturally relevant and linguistically responsive, also guides our intervention program.

An ELAR Instructional Coach supports the literacy needs of students by running the  Literacy Café specific to targeted needs for individual grade levels and classrooms in small groups and whole classroom support. Our ELAR Instructional Coach focus on writing support across the content areas, reading comprehension, and fluency; activities to also support test taking strategies. In addition, our ELAR Instructional Coach also serves as a support for teachers by providing professional development, co-teaching models, lesson design and study, collaborative coaching and modeling of lessons.
