Math/Science Lab

The instructional plan for La Salle Avenue Spanish Dual Language Elementary includes a targeted focus on research-based pedagogies and practices that have proven to be effective in supporting the needs of African American and Latino students. Embracing an instructional plan that is culturally relevant and linguistically responsive, also guides our intervention program.

An Math/Science Instructional Coach supports the literacy needs of students by running the Math/Science Lab specific to targeted needs for individual grade levels and classrooms in small groups and whole classroom support. While students visit the Math/Science Lab they are exposed to project based lessons and hands on experiments to make the learning tangible which is being conducted by the Math/Science Coach which the classroom teacher observes and use the time as lesson modeling or co-teaching opportunities.

Our Math/Science Instructional Coach focus on mathematical strategies that are geared towards students engaging with math with discourse and freedom to create the learning experience such as CGI supports, and activities to also support test taking strategies. Our Math/Science Instructional Coach designs a pacing plan for teachers aligned to Common Core State Standards and SBAC Major and Minor standard clusters. 

In addition, our Math/Science Instructional Coach also serves as a support for teachers by providing professional development, co-teaching models, lesson design and study, collaborative coaching and modeling of lessons.
